Furious History
Furious Films was established in 1997 by David No and Brent Houghton and is Austalia's first genre based production company. No & Houghton first met in 1993 when they came together to make The Huntsman. Being a Hong Kong style action film made at the Victorian College of the Arts Film School, it was a landmark film which gained International cult acclaim.
Both No and Houghton have taken much of their film knowledge directly from working with some of the best action filmmakers in the world. Combined, they have worked with the likes of: Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Sammo Hung, Tsui Hark, Yuen Wo-Ping, Tony Ching Sui-Dong, The Wachowski Brothers, Vic Armstrong, and Jeong Du-Hong.
No and Houghton worked together for many years developing screenplays, both for themselves as well as other bigger production companies and distributors such as Beyond Films, Becker Entertainment, Franchise Pictures, and Arclight. They won the annual pitching competition at the Screen Producers Conference of Australia, and launched two screenplays at Cannes in the following years.
